Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center Newsletter - February 6, 2011

Greetings everyone,

Let's start this newsletter with a short commentary to CSI's "The Two Grissoms"
episode. The commentary will bring up an interesting observation.

The MVP goes to the TTY which was shown twice in the show as a communication
device in a deaf person's dorm and in a deaf person's workplace. Introduced over
30 years ago the TTY's are still being used by the majority of the deaf
community. Lacking in it's place, the videophone which have been around for
almost a decade has failed to gain the attention of the Hollywood moguls as a
communication device for the deaf.

Our service statistics for the year 2009 and 2010 have been posted at our
website. This is raw data. Take the opportunity to see our transparency and see
who comes to us for help, and what we did to help them. And then please
consider making a donation to us.

Next newsletter is in two weeks.

Richard Roehm, Chairman
On behalf of Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center

safety, health, and productive living.

The Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center provides services for disabled
individuals and their families in our community who need help in navigating the
social services maze. Every day people go without proper food, shelter, and
essential medical care every day due to a variety of factors including low
wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age, domestic violence, or divorce. While
all of us are susceptible to hard times, disabled individuals are at the most
risk. With the generous support of people like you, we are able to help many of
these families and individuals not only to meet essential daily needs, but to
work toward a brighter future with programs in job training, education,
counseling, elderly assistance, and temporary housing.
