Arguments for Getting Insurance to Cover Advanced Bionics’ Neptune

Andrea P., a mom of a child with bilateral Advanced Bionics cochlear implant recipient is very excited about the newly FDA approved Neptune sound processor; however, she will need to battle with the medical insurance to get them to cover the cost of the sound processor.

  1. Here is the problem I see for waterproof sound processors. NOISE! It is very noisy in a pool and just because the child will be able to hear does mean they will truly be able to HEAR since they are hard of hearing with CIs NOT completely hearing. If we are in a noisy restaurant or place, my grandchild has a terrible time hearing!
