Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center Newsletter - March 5, 2011

Greetings everyone,

This issue, we talk about our yahoo news groups lists. Now you as a subasriber
to this newsletter is already familiar with this news group. We have a few more
news groups in our control over a variety of subsections that concerns the deaf
community.

1) Deafhood. 36 members. Discussion on deafness, deafhood, promotion and
preservation of deafness, and responsible deaf and deafhood advocacy.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/deafhood/

2) Gallynet. 21 members. Discussions pertaining to higher education of the
hearing impaired communities and not be limited to Gallaudet University
stakeholders. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Gallynet/

3) Ocdacvolunteer. 328 members. This is a group for volunteers at the Orange
County Deaf Advocacy Center. We will post events, and news, and collabrate on
projects in this group. This is where we share ideas on helping our agency help
others with those interested in helping us out. List members will be screened
out to make sure theyre fit to help us out.

And another news we are setting up a sign language competition in memory of
Kenneth Algaze to take place in Septembers each year. This will be replacing
the Johnny Scott Memorial Chess matches we've had in the past. Technology
advancements to chess playing makes opportunities in one-on-one chess matches
less attractive and feasible.

Finally when you have free time to spare, take a look at my videos at
http://www.aslvlogs.com/?u=tagboard7 and I'm grateful to Ken Davis for setting
up a website so we can share our wonderful videos with the sign language
population.
