President Obama Announces New Initiatives During National Disability Employment
Awareness Month
"My Administration is committed to ensuring that all Americans have the chance
to fulfill their potential and contribute to our nation," said President Obama.
"Across this country, millions of people with disabilities are working or want
to work, and they should have access to the support and services they need to
succeed. As the nation's largest employer, the Federal Government and its
contractors can lead the way by implementing effective employment policies and
practices that increase opportunities and help workers achieve their full
potential. We must also rededicate ourselves to fostering an inclusive work
culture that welcomes the skills and talents of all qualified employees. That's
why I've asked the responsible agencies to develop new plans and policies to
help increase employment across America for people with disabilities."

THE FINGER BOWS
Here is an excellent article "Why donors must do more than doling out hearing
aids" http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/-/539444/674634/-/s0f4to/-/
Why donors should help Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center more?
That is because Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center has gotten a lot of deaf and
disabled off the streets. That is because Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center
trains people to become independent both on and off the jobs. That is because
there is a demand that continues to grow for our assistance and services. That
is because Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center is a recognized organization
striving hard to stand up for those who cant. That is because we just lost our
bid for a 3rd group home that would have made it a lot easier for us to continue
our mission to help others. The video of the home we were hoping to get is at

Tinnitus affects people with or without hearing loss.
Tinnitus is the ringing sensation that occurs in the ears. Severe tinnitus can

THE TOP STORIES OF THE WEEK
OCDAC Receives 2009 Best of Irvine Award
U.S. Commerce Association's Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
WASHINGTON D.C., June 8, 2009 -- OCDAC has been selected for the 2009
Best of Irvine Award in the Technical Aids For The Handicapped category
by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding
local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies
companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success
in their local community and business category. These are local
companies that enhance the positive image of small business through
service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the
winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on
quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information
gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
About U.S. Commerce Association (USCA)
U.S. Commerce Association (USCA) is a Washington D.C. based organization
funded by local businesses operating in towns, large and small, across
America. The purpose of USCA is to promote local business through public

their community. Our organization works exclusively with local business
owners, trade groups, professional associations, chambers of commerce
and other business advertising and marketing groups. Our mission is to

FACE TO FACE TIMES
Introducing the Modern Deaf Communication program.
Morton Warnow, a long-time Danbury resident, founder of Modern Deaf
Communication, WW II veteran, inventor, library patron, and friend to
many, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2006.
The Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center extends great honors to Morton
Warnow's pioneering contributions to helping the deaf communities live
safer, healthier and prosper through knowledge and communication in
English!
The Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center will keep Morton Warnow's legacy
alive with a modern twist to bring literacy and the ENGLISH language
back to the American deaf signing communities.
Modern Deaf Communication, Inc. is a non-profit entity now under the
OCDAC tax-exempt status with a vision of promise and triumph over the
problems of the deaf, but a vision based on hope and faith as much as on
science and common sense. The worst problems of the deaf are terrible
deaf illiteracy and unemployment which we believe can be wiped out in
our time. We believe that the isolation and debilitating dependency on
society suffered by the deaf can be vanquished and replaced with a new,
strong sense of participation and belonging to the country and society
of which they are citizens.

THE SOUR ORCHIDS
Fnally many people woke up and saw the bad DVTV has been doing to the
deaf society and they've left that website in droves. It shows that
most of the illiterate and signing deaf communities can't engage in
healthy discussions without insulting, namecalling, and maliciously
labeling others. The answer to all these problems is LITERACY! Modern
Deaf Communication's website has information on the best practices
approach to achieving literacy and returning the English language back
to the signing deaf communities.

OCDAC Receives 2009 Best of Irvine Award
U.S. Commerce Association's Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
WASHINGTON D.C., June 8, 2009 -- OCDAC has been selected for the 2009
Best of Irvine Award in the Technical Aids For The Handicapped category
by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding
local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies
companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success
in their local community and business category. These are local
companies that enhance the positive image of small business through
service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the
winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on
quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information
gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
